This is not something you X-fi guys have to worry about since the creative driver presents surround speaker set to windows but it's a problem for integrated audio. It *does* work if a game lets you set "surround" or "5.1" audio explicitly but if the game checks it automatically it may think it's stereo. The one thing I can't hack is to make windows/games think there is a 5.1 speaker system connected.
